Part IV: Who is Electric Girl? Behind the Super Mask

Once upon a time, there was a high school student named Macy Jones. Macy lived in New York City, New York. Most of the time, Macy is just your average high school student who loves animals, playing soccer, and spending time with her friends. However, when there is someone around her in need of assistance, she becomes the greatest superhero that New York has ever seen: Electric Girl. She decided to take this path in her life when she was only sixteen years old because she was disappointed in how nobody in the world around her helped others when they were in trouble, simply out of the goodness of their hearts. She hated standing on the sidelines, waiting for the cavalry to arrive on their white horses. However, after her father started working as a policeman, she realized that she was wrong all along. The police, who are just average people at the end of the day, are truly doing their best to protect their people. Therefore, she continued on with her superhero lifestyle to support them, and any other kind people, while they were busy fighting other crimes. However, none of the officers or innocent bystanders knew who exactly is behind her red mask. All that they know about Electric Girl is that she loves to help people because it is the right thing to do. Even her best friends admired and looked up to her. But, what they didn’t know was that their idol was sitting right next to them as they talked about her heroic acts with stars in their eyes.

One day, Macy heard on her police scanner that the mayor’s cat was stuck in a tree. She knew that the police probably had more important crimes to tackle, so she decided to head over and help the mayor out. When she got there, she saw that the cat was in serious distress; the situation was worse than she had originally expected. So, she had to find a ladder at a nearby construction site, climb up it, and carefully pull the terrified cat out of the bushy leaves and branches where it hid. After she did this, she slowly made her way down the ladder to find a small group of people standing below beside the mayor; they were cheering for her! She was so happy that she was able to improve someone’s day, even though she probably just missed her class. When she returned to the classroom, she noticed that her teacher was the only person left. She looked at Macy with disappointment and told her that she would now have to contact her parents about missing so much class. What was she going to do now?! Her parents would be so angry with her. So, she decided to do the only thing she could: She had to tell her teacher the truth about who she was.

When Macy finished explaining her secret life as Electric Girl, her teacher thankfully agreed to let her off with a warning, just this one time. Macy was extremely thankful and gracious towards her teacher. What she now realized, after two close calls in one day, was that she needed to establish a balance between her superhero and school life. If she didn’t do this, she would not be able to fully succeed in either activity. However, she knew that she truly loved to help people on a daily basis. Because of this, she thought that she could be a superhero in a different way, that didn’t impact her school life and attendance. She decided to open up her very own animal shelter where she took care of any and all creatures in need of a home. For the moment, she chose to retire the superhero outfit. However, this wasn’t the end for Electric Girl. If anyone truly needed her, she would know in her heart that it was time to put the suit back on and fight crime. But, for now, she was able to help people, get to class on time, and do what she loved all at once. So, the moral to Macy’s story would be this: taking care of yourself before others is incredibly important. This way, you can support your own passions and dreams while furthering those of the people around you as well.
